About IFMEC

IFMEC stands for International Facility Management Expert Centre.

IFMEC is an independent research and education centre; a centre of expertise in the field of Facility Management. As expert centre, IFMEC provides a Post Bachelor programme since 1991 in cooperation with several Polytechnic Universities for Facility Management (FM) and since 2003 an Executive MBA FM programme in cooperation with Maastricht School of Management (MSM).  

Both studies are focused on the so-called experienced Facility Manager.  In addition, IFMEC is related to several sectors in the market that have a relation with FM: Government, Health care, Education, Multinationals, Banking among others. Activities that are closely related to IFMEC are the involvement on congresses and in newsletters and education.  Her extreme large network for Facility Managers and database when it comes to FM knowledge are highly appreciated and consulted.

IFMEC is of the opinion that FM is a field of expertise which can only be understood, applied and developed by identifying the specific needs and wishes of an organisation to which the FM department belongs to. Developments in society are of great importance for that specific organisation as create the environment in which an organisation operates and depends upon.

Understanding the abovementioned and maintaining that high level of knowledge of FM is what places IFMEC in top position in the Netherlands when it comes to knowledge concerning the field of FM.

To illustrate the large influence, experience and knowledge of IFMEC:

The Post Bachelor programme educated over 600 Facility Managers. The MBA FM exists for over 8 years now. Three years ago, IFMEC started a Young Professionals programme in cooperation with Facility Management Excellence en Experience (F-MEX). The number of practitioners in this programme is growing with the years.  

Main activities of IFMEC are:

-          Education:

1. Excellence Project: Young Professionals are offered an accelerating career start by joining the high potential Young Professional Program of IFMEC which is part of the Excellence Project in cooperation with F-MEX.
2. MBA FM: An Executive MBA FM for experienced Facility Managers. It combines both theory and practice perfectly.

-          Interim Management: In addition, IFMEC provides Interim Management in the health care sector, the government and overall businesses.

-          Research and consulting: these are activities of IFMEC that focuses on the overall development of the field of FM; success of Total Facility Management and Shared Service Centre.

-          Internationalisation: Currently, international relations are enlarged in South and Eastern European countries like Spain and Austria.

IFMEC is constantly occupied with the abovementioned activities and manages to do so from a rather small office. This office is located in Roden in the Northern part of the Netherlands near the city of Groningen.
