Excellent Student Programme
There are students who are satisfied with a sufficient grade and there are student who wish to achieve more than just satisfaction. They aim at performing on a higher level and, with that, excel compared to the ‘normal student’. By investing in this group, F-MEX aims at supporting the field of Facility Management and her members; the best and next practice.
Currently, Dutch Bachelor programmes – 4 year programme - are structured as such that each student has a coordinator assigned by the educational institution for their internship. In addition, a professional from the working field supports the student at the same time.
In combination with the abovementioned, F-MEX designed the Excellent Student Programme. With this programme F-MEX supports the excellent student during their internship and/or graduation phase. Aim of the programme is to graduate the student on a higher level than average by providing intensive coaching and focusing on the best and next practice.
F-MEX has experience with multiple Universities of Applied Sciences. In-Holland, which was the first institution that worked together with F-MEX, Haagse Hogeschool, Hanzehogeschool and Saxion Hogeschool are currently ‘partners’ in this Excellent Student Programme.
Aims of the F-MEX Excellent Student Programme:
o Stimulate student in achieving the required competences and personal development within the conditions of the educational institution. Students are given the chance to excel during their years of study with the extra support of F-MEX coaching and professional network.
o Bring the student into direct contact with the working field; the professionals. The student should excel from classmates by actively participating during F-MEX gatherings where students and professionals come together to discuss a specific topic.
o Provide students with internships during which students can challenge themselves in the working field of facility management.
o Supporting the overall development of facility management with internships concentrating on the best and next practice around current subjects.
o Offering students the opportunity to enter the Young Professional Programme which creates even more career opportunities.
Structure of the programme
1. Selection
After the second year of study F-MEX, in cooperation with the educational institution, will select students based on application letters send by students themselves. The educational institution must pre-select the students based on selection criteria set by F-MEX.
Selection criteria are based on the students’ resume, application letter and achievement of the first year of study (propedeuse). Clearly, to enter the Excellent Student Programme the student must excel in one or more subjects within the field of facility management.
After acceptance of the application, F-MEX and the student will sign an agreement in which expectations and other general conditions are stated.
2. During the programme
As mentioned earlier, the student will be coached by an assigned coach who, at the same time, is a professional in the facility management working field. Each month, students are expected to attend the so-called ‘return day’. On this day students have to participate on workshops, give presentations and help each other. By having such a great number of students who study at different Universities of Applied Sciences, different knowledge, backgrounds and experiences lead to a great input as well as output on this day of return.
3. Closure
After an internship - 3rd year - students are expected to give a presentation about their internship for F-MEX members and possibly other interested parties. Whether the student can receive the title of Excellent student or not depends on the judgement of F-MEX and the University of Applied Sciences. A certificate is given to the student if the judgement is positive.
After the third year of study, the student can apply for a graduation project – 4th year - within F-MEX. The same application procedure is applied here.
After the 4th year and graduation, the graduate can apply for the Young Professional Programme which is a great follow-up to the Excellent Student Programme.
