About The MBA FM

The MBA Facility Management (FM) educates future directors and managers. Thanks to the international highly recognised education, this MBA FM is in line with current market developments and the developments of the field of FM – internationalisation. The MBA FM is organised by IFMEC in cooperation with the Maastricht School of Management (MSM).

Maastricht School of Management
The Maastricht School of Management (MSM) is ‘a leading provider of management education with worldwide presence. Their mission is to enhance the management capacity of professionals and organizations in and for emerging economies and developing countries with the objective to substantially contribute to the development of these societies.’ They offer prestigious management degree programs, which attracts more than 2000 participants a year who come from all over the world.

IFMEC is an independent education and consulting bureau in the field of FM. For over 20 years IFMEC provides the Post Bachelor FM education. With this experience, IFMEC has gained a prominent position as expert centre.

MBA FM – a good choice!
The field of FM is constantly developing; by the constant pull deriving from technical developments, like telecommunication, this field of expertise is professionalising as it must change along with other developments.  Facility Managers have developed themselves from a practical and operational employee to a strategic thinker who contributes in the current complex organisational issues.

Therefore, the position of the Facility Manager is flexible as it is constantly changing. Developments of the last years are those in the field of quality control, corporate social responsibility, ICT, finances and procurement. All these changes, ask for professional facility management. Even more than with other disciplines in an organization, the uniqueness of the organization determines the design of the facility management focus.  It is the task of the Facility Manager to manage all of these changes, as they all have influence on the field of FM. The programme has a unique design. It combines the education form of a University MBA and the IFMA education form:

  • The MBA FM is a general management education for educated specialist
  • Full-timers can participate in the programme as the programme will respects one’s job
  • Two modules are dealt with within a year
  • The duration of the Executive MBA FM is three years
  • The education is scientifically focused and has a close relation with practical issues.

Target group
Obviously, a target market must be identified. The target group for the Executive MBA FM are business directors who are familiar with Facility Management and/or educated as Facility Manager. To qualify for admission to the MBA program, participants must meet the following criteria:

  • Bachelor or Master diploma
  • Ability to study and work on academic level
  • Minimum of three years’ work experience in facility department in a responsible position

Practical aspects
Methodology of the programme is the combination of theory and practice; participants will work project-based. Coaching, case studies, colleges, and group work part of the programme. Participants learn to apply the studied material directly and implement recommendations resulting from projects.

This methodology not only increases the quality of the study programme, it also supports the facility department of an organisation.
